It's been over half a century since 1962, when husband-and-wife Founders Mr. Somsak and Mrs. Suree Wattanaporn set up a business with their wide vision to share the culinary flavors of Samut Sakhon Province’s booming fisheries & agricultural abundance.
Back then, it was quite difficult to make a living as a street vendor. See how word-of-mouth fame transformed their humble two-person operation into a national Thai heritage brand over 60 years later.
In 1962, The husband & wife team of Somsak & Suree persevered in selling their wares by streetcart from Saphan Phut to Sanam Luang in Bangkok. Coming from very humble beginnings, the two street vendors produced and sold various flavors of crispy rice crackers to people traveling by boat to and from Mahachai District and Ta Chalhom Port. Customers enjoying their crispy rice snacks would always ask for accompanying condiments, so Mrs. Suree began making chili paste to go with the rice crackers.
The chili paste proved to be such a flavorful hit, customers could not get enough of it. People were putting Pantai's Chili Paste with Soya Bean Oil in milk cans and taking it with them on their trips abroad! Spread by word-of-mouth it became the best selling chili paste in Thailand of that time.
In 1974, the first factory was established on Ekachai Road, Mahachai District, in the famous Samut Sakhon food province of Thailand to produce chili paste and a wide variety of dipping sauces for Thai people to enjoy. The small factory grew with the construction of larger, more modern production facilities.
The factory is situated near one of Thailand's largest fisheries, allowing the advantage of selection of fresh ingredients for manufacturing. Per our philosophy of honesty passed down over generations to today, we select only the finest raw ingrrdients from high quality agricultural sources and Thailand's freshest seafood protein as the vital key to the delicious flavor of our products.
In 1976, Pantainorasingh began exporting products internationally, beginning with Australia to serve the large Thai community there, later expanding to France, England and beyond to the United States of America & dozens of countries today.
Having received recognition from the Royal Family (Mr Somsak Wattanaporn is pictured here with the King of Thailand), Pantainorasingh products are well-regarded and craved around the world. Our word-of-mouth popularity is naturally spread by Thai travelers to foreign destinations - we are now in over 48+ countries in the world.
Pantainorasingh has been the honorable recipient of the Prime Minister’s Export Award - established by the Ministry of Commerce, Royal Thai Government as a national prestigious accolade to the country’s outstanding exporters.
